The large entrance hall is used for exercise classes for our younger and older toddlers, and it’s also where we regularly set up kids’ activity tracks and sometimes like to get together with all the groups for special celebrations. Our location is right next to a fire station – what could be more exciting to a toddler?
We have two yards: there’s the large one with its fun play corners, a playhouse, and a climbing frame (an added convenience is that you can quickly grab any items from inside the building and take them into the yard, as we’re based on just one floor). Our infant yard (featuring a slope, sandbox, and small footbridge) is where our littlest ones can enjoy the fresh air. We have our own vegetable garden, which we cultivate and maintain together with our toddlers.
We’re located in the Leidsche Rijn district (very popular with young families), across from the new shopping center and near the railway station and the A2 and A12 highways.
In this location you will find Kindergarden Dirck Hoetweg
Babies can enjoy the fresh air in complete safety in their own sheltered baby garden area. And the older children can play hide-and-seek to their heart’s content in the willow tunnel or in the sandpit, or race around on small bicycles or carts.
Young children’s ears are incredibly receptive to the sounds of other languages. We grasp this opportunity every week so our toddlers get to know English through play. We use our hand puppets Benny and Bella for this.
Our shady garden really invites children to start discovering and playing. There’s a screened area for the babies, which means that the older children can play to their heart’s content on the discovery path, the playhouse, the climbing frame, and practice balancing on the stepping posts.
Toddlers love exercise, as this enables them to discover their bodies through play. That’s why we do this every morning with them during our toddler gymnastics. We use stories to get the children moving and challenge them to make their own contributions.
Every child lives in a world where everything impresses – and everything has an impact. That is why we work with horizontal groups at our locations.
Review from a parent
Our daughter has been going to Kindergarden Dirck Hoetweg for a year now. We had such a warm feeling at this daycare center right from the start. All the staff are so helpful and are open for anything. We’re simply delighted with the hot meals that they prepare with local, organic ingredients where possible. Indoors, the rooms are really spacious and light and the children can also enjoy playing outside in the beautiful garden.

Frequently asked questions
Many of our locations have waiting lists because many places are currently full. We rely on cancellations or schedule changes to make a new place available for you. This makes it very difficult to estimate how long it will take before placement options come up. We offer places based on the registration date.
We also have two types of waiting lists:
- an internal priority waiting list for siblings and for extra days for children who already have a place
- a general waiting list for children who do not yet have a place at Kindergarden.
To increase the chances of securing a spot, we recommend enrolling your child as soon as possible at our childcare. We take your preferences into account during our planning and strive to fulfill your wishes to the best of our ability.
That depends on various factors including preferred days, how many days you need, and how flexible you are. For example, the likelihood of a placement becoming available for one day is greater than three or four days becoming available in one go. The more flexible you are as a parent, the greater the likelihood that we will be able to offer you a place.
