Relaxation, challenge and development go hand in hand at our after-school care (BSO) in Nijmegen. Like the childcare centre, the BSO is located in the former Villa Geldersch Hof. There are a maximum of 20 children in a group. Homeliness and small scale are paramount. That means a calm atmosphere, but also ample space to play – being outside is as important as inside! The front garden - on the edge of the forest - has a trampoline, a large football field, a stray forest and climbing equipment.
Our after-school care centre in Nijmegen is designed in such a way that children can fully enjoy light, air and space. Relaxation, play and discovery are central to the program as you can tell from the facilities. A small impression...
There are [two] spacious living rooms in calm, cool colours to be together, relax, play, build together or watch TV together.
During cooking workshops, children become acquainted with food and cooking. They learn to handle equipment and are encouraged to do everything independently as much as possible.
Science Rocks Lab
Taking care of animals? (tortoises, fish, reptiles) Sorting plants? Carry out experiments? Grow a vegetable garden from cuttings? Working with a microscope? Soldering? 3D printing? A workshop to learn how to control a Lego robot? Everything revolves around Nature and Technology.
In the ArtSmart atelier, creativity is queen: there are easels, workplaces with bench screw, there is a sewing machine and we do crafts with clay, wood and ecoline.
Peace, quiet, a hanging chair, bean bags and pillows... A large number of children's books, sorted by age and subject (also for 4-year olds), makes the library a wonderful place to relax.
This concerns information and education: children can do homework, follow a type course and use the available equipment to produce or programme something, for example a video.
Through a fence, the children reach a safe, challenging front yard to be together, to climb, to hide in the stray forest, to jump trampoline or play on the soccer field.
