What about a healthy diet?

The food we offer is healthy, but that’s not the only thing we do. We also talk about a healthy diet, try new foods and experiment. We eat together, creating social times at the table, and prepare delicious dishes together with the children. Is everything sugar-free at the after-school care? No, but we do monitor sugar, fat, and salt consumption. As we guide the children in this process, we’re offering them something for later so they can make their own healthy choices when they are older.

Buffet... attack!

When you get back from school, you’re hungry. Our children certainly are! That’s why we offer a healthy buffet every afternoon so they can make their own choices. As the schools all finish at different times, the children arrive with us at different times. Having a buffet means they don’t need to wait.

Every moment of the day

At Kindergarden we give your child healthy and varied food, at various times of the day.

  • Healthy buffet

The healthy buffet comprises raw vegetables and fruit, yoghurt with muesli, nuts and one sandwich or two crackers with a healthy topping. We always first encourage the children to eat some raw vegetables before choosing anything else. And of course, they also get something to drink, a choice of water or warm (not hot) tea.

  • Lunch

Has your child’s school finished early? Of course, we’ll offer them a healthy lunch, including wholemeal bread with various, healthy toppings. Yoghurt is also an option. We also offer something to drink; a choice of water or warm (not hot) tea.

  • Snacks

At the end of the day we always offer a snack, which can comprise fruit or dried fruit, or raw vegetables and something to drink.

  • Hot evening meal

There are also several Kindergarden after-school care locations where the children are given a hot meal at the end of the day. That’s convenient as they’ll already have eaten when you collect them. Of course, we serve healthy meals that cover all the basic food groups. We always prepare these fresh meals ourselves. If we offer this service at an after-school care location it will be mentioned on the location page.

Health in practice

The food we offer is healthy, but that’s not the only thing we do. We also talk about a healthy diet, try new foods and experiment. We eat together, creating social times at the table, and prepare delicious dishes together with the children. Is everything sugar-free at the after-school care? No, but we do monitor sugar, fat, and salt consumption. As we guide the children in this process, we’re offering them something for later so they can make their own healthy choices when they are older.

Experiencing for yourself: the best way to learn

Our cooking and baking activities are firm favorites. We involve the children in preparing snacks, even chopping vegetables, so that they become familiar with and enjoy trying new things through play. If you’ve baked something yourself, of course you simply have to try it! It also helps your child develop healthy habits.

Does your child have an allergy?

Is your child sensitive to certain nutrients, such as cow’s milk or gluten? Of course, we’ll take that into consideration at the after-school care, and we won’t charge anything extra for this.
