Hi, I'm Leonie Dix, location manager of Kindergarden Terwijde Utrecht. Would you like to come and take a look at our childcare location?

Playing in and around a centuries-old farm creates a real country feel right in the heart of Utrecht Leidsche Rijn. It’s a truly special place to chill out after school or take part in one of our cool activities.

Our after-school care is not a continuation of school, but rather an easygoing place where children get to do the things they love best! We tailor the activities to the children’s interests and needs. We ask the older kids what they’d like to see added to the program and what kind of toys and games they’d like, and we also set some ground rules together. This combination of inclusive decision-making, peace, and structure adds to the appeal of our facility. Want to take part in a workshop? Or get busy in the studio? Or prefer to curl up in a corner with a book? Everything’s possible.

Outdoors, they can engage in sports, take turns on the climbing equipment, or play games. During the vacation periods, we also link all kinds of activities to various themes. For instance, the “Farm life” theme includes a visit to a real petting zoo.

Our after-school care is right in the heart of Leidsche Rijn in the Terwijde neighborhood.

We pick up at the following schools:

  • Katholieke basisschool Hof ter Weide (KSU)
  • OBS Waterrijk
  • De Ridderhof

The schools where we collect can change. Collection days and times may vary depending on the school.

  • Studio

The children can really give a free rein to their fantasy and creativity here. We challenge them by offering many different types of materials (wood, bricks, clay, paint, and such things as Ecoline). So they’re not only doing crafts and drawing but also designing, building, and handcrafts.

  • Chill out corner

Our location has such a warm and homely feel. Children enjoy relaxing in the living room after a busy day at school, chilling out for a while with a good book on the sofa or bean bags.

  • Own choice of activities

Children at our after-school club manage their own spare time. They can take part in three alternating activities every day. Themes include sport and play, building, crafts, games, and cooking.

  • Themed week during vacations

We produce a unique vacation schedule every vacation period with our own activities or we ask someone to give an experiment workshop, for instance. We always offer a huge variety of different activities in our location or on trips out, such as to the playground, strawberry farm or making ice cream at the ice cream maker.

  • Garden

Playing outdoors isn’t only healthy for children, they tend to learn and play differently than indoors. Our huge garden enables the children to let off steam after school, playing games including soccer, badminton, or softball.
