Spaces and activities at after-school care

At Kindergarden’s after-school care, children are free to be themselves and to learn through play, and there are many different spaces available to them that enable this. Each space invites them to learn something new, to relax, or to be creative. Your child can choose to do whatever they please: reading in the library, cooking in the kids’ kitchen, or experimenting in the lab. In other words, the fun continues after school!

The lab

Our laboratory is the best place ever to learn and discover through play. By carrying out fun tests and experiments, your child will learn more about biology, physics, chemistry, and technology. They can enjoy themselves to their heart’s content with lab equipment such as a microscope, a 3D printing pen, or technical Lego. They also learn how to care for plants. The program sometimes includes other amazing activities, such as programming robots together.

The kids’ kitchen

At Kindergarden, food and eating are all about the social aspect: discovering new flavors together and even sometimes preparing dishes together. Our kids’ kitchen is specially customised to suit children, and is the perfect place for them to work with ingredients. For example, they can learn to chop, knead, bake, and work together. The childcare professionals supervise them and teach them all about healthy ingredients and how to follow recipes. This enables your child to learn skills that will serve them well throughout their lives.

The outdoors

At Kindergarden, the children can play outdoors every day. Many after-school care locations have their own outdoor areas, but we also like to go out to a nearby playground or grassed area. Playing outside gives children energy and is good for their development. Children also tend to learn and play differently outdoors than they do indoors: they use all their senses, have a sense of freedom, and experience having the space to expand their boundaries. We come up with the most fun activities together, such as sports, free play with friends, riding bikes or scooters, playing in the sandbox, or building huts.

The studio

Your child can give free rein to their creativity in the studio, where they can make beautiful creations with different materials, such as wood, bricks, clay, paint or Ecoline, and a variety of tools. We think you’ll love the beautiful things your child brings home!

The fantasy room

Children have rich fantasy lives, and we encourage them in this wholeheartedly. The fantasy room is a space where your child can play dress-up, put on face paint, sing, play the piano, or put on an entire performance. They have access to everything they need to bring stories to life. We regularly enjoy beautiful performances here, with the children donning dress-up clothes and devising their own roles.

The library

If your child simply wants to relax, there’s space for that too, and they can retreat to the library with a good book or a magazine. We have plenty of options for children of every age, from beautiful picture books to challenging reading books and comics.

The living room and kitchen

After a day at school the children feel right at home in the living room and kitchen. They can relax on comfy cushions, build something impressive, or play games together. There is plenty of space for them to explore things together.

We also often use the living room and kitchen for meals, and we always eat together in small groups, based on age. After school, the children talk about their day together, such as about whether anyone did something especially fun that day. And there are drinks (water or lukewarm tea) and healthy snacks available for everyone. We always aim to make mealtimes a social occasion.
